Well its almost Thursday and I have so much to be thankful for it isn't funny. For the last 5 months we have been struggling trying to get our mortgage redone while the interest rates were so low. There has been one snag after another but finally we got it done. So the first thing I am thankful for is some financial relief. Its about time but I am truly thankful. I am also thankful that many other things are falling into place in my life. I am getting some projects behind me. I have been burdened down with so many things that it feels good to get some breathing room. I am thankful that we have some cooler weather on the way. They are calling for highs in the 70's this weekend. I am thankful that my chickens are all laying now. We only have three hens but we are getting three farm fresh eggs every day. I am thankful that my youngest got a good report card. I think it is going to be a good school year. Have a great Thankful Thursday Greg

Wow where did this week go? I got up this morning and didn't even think about it being Thursday already. But when I turned on my computer, I opened my blog and realized; I'm late, I'm late....for a very important date. It can't be Thursday already can it? Anyway let me get going since I have to leave for work soon. I am thankful that I got up early for some reason this morning. I must have subchoncioushly known that it was Thursday and that I needed to do my post. However it is 430 am and I can barely spell my name at this hour much less subconsciously. Hey I did it. I must be waking up. I am thankful that we finally got our home loan to go through. After struggling with a certain bank of America for over 4 months, we switched banks and got done in 30 days. Now it is on to bigger and better things. I am thankful for out hottub because my shoulder has really been hurting me and the hottub gives me some temporary relief. I am thankful for our cats which keep us all amused...

I could come up with a personal list of things that I am thankful for but with the events of yesterday in Chile, they all seem so small. I watched some of the rescue and it took my breath away. This Thursday I just want to say Thank you God for returning these men to their families. I loved what one of the miners said when he reached the top: He said that God and the devil were both down there with him and he had a choice to make. Well I had a funny post all ready and then I realized that it was time for Thankful Thursday. So you will have to wait a few days for that post. So here we go again with the top 5 things I am thankful for this week. Well they may not always be the top 5 but they are the first 5 that popped into my brain. I am thankful that we are starting to get some cooler weather. Although I don’t mind hot days and I prefer them to cold, I do like spring and fall. And even though fall precedes winter it is my favorite because of the lack of pollen. I still suffer from hay fever so spring can be miserable for me. I am thankful that my family caught fish last weekend. It is always nice to have fresh fish and even nicer when they are free and you know where they came from. I am thankful that my garden is still doing well even in the cooler weather. I have a bunch of peppers ready for picking. I have some really hot ones and some sweet ones too. Last Friday my wife made chili with some of my peppers and ...

But this time it's real rain and not troubles I am writing about. Yes we had lots of rain today and we have a lot more on the way. But I am always thankful for the rain. That is unless it rains for 40 days and 40 nights. And that is only because my boat needs work. I am also thankful that I have a warm dry place to lay my head. When I think about all the homeless people in the world I am very thankful to have my little house. I am also thankful that we have food on the table and have never had to go hungry. I am thankful that our plants are growing well now that we have had some rain. And finally I am thankful that the part I wanted to get to fix the boat wasn't in stock. While I was waiting for it to come in, I did some more troubleshooting and I found out that it wasn't the part that I needed. Had the part been in stock, I would have gotten it and they don't take returns. That little setback turned out to be a blessing. Have a great day, Greg

Is it crazy out there or what? If I told you all the trouble I have been through this year you would swear my name was Job. But it is Greg and I refuse to let life get me down. Even though I had had a hard year I am still thankful and wish to continue this meme. But this week I am swamped with work, home life and just everything. So I am not giving up because I am still thankful for everything in life. But like I said I swamped so let me make this a brief post and I will get back to my regular post next week. I am thankful for family, friends, a good job (even though it makes me wonder sometimes), Blog friends, my God given talents, great school grades, plants, rain, free things, etc etc. Let me just say I am thankful and you should be too. This week I went to the Senior Center. No not to move in but to help out. Our company participates in the United Way Day of Caring and each year. If work allows, I try to volunteer. Last year we had to work but this year I was able to do it. This year we helped out at a local Senior Center and also at the homes of some of the seniors. Even though I said on my volunteer form that I was good with plants and gardening, I ended up at the center doing odd jobs. But it turned out to be great anyway. I started my day by erecting handicap parking signs for the parking spaces. While we were doing this, one lady drove up and ran over my work bucket (which was not in the parking space). This leads me to believe that these signs were really needed. When she went inside I noticed that she had several nice scrapes on her car which told me that she may also need glasses. I guess I could say that I am thankful that it was the bucket and not me that got run over. My next project was to wash handicap ...
