Thankful Thursday...Up on the roof.
For anyone that doesn't know about what I do for a living, my official title is maintenance planner. That means I plan and schedule maintenance. So it was no surprise that I planned and scheduled my roofing job. I had it scheduled down to a T. Then Mother Nature stepped in with other plans.
On Friday, when I was supposed to start work, it snowed. It was the most snow we have had in 20 years. So much for plans. Then on Saturday it rained. Way to go Mother Nature. It was also just above freezing. I guess it is global warming. So here is my list for the week.
I am about 90% done with my roofing project and I am thankful that I am still standing. No one over the age of 50 should be allowed to work on a roof.
Even though my back yard is a swamp we will be needing the water this summer so I am thankful for the water.
The wood is still holding out and I am thankful for that. Our heater hasn't turned on this year and that is keeping our electric bill lower than most.
I am thankful that my youngest son is bringing up his grades. I only had to scream and shout like a maniac but he is improving. So much for being a calm parent.
I am thankful that we are supposed to have some warmer weather this weekend. I am ready for a boat ride and some relaxation. All work and no play...you know how that goes.
No matter what is happening in our lives we realize that we have it pretty good and we thank God for that. I used Sonya's link this week. Give Sonya a shout out to let her know that the thankfulness she started continues.
Have a great day,
Greg

It is understandable just how busy you've been this week and I would agree with you that if you were able to hire someone to do your roof for you I am certain you would have.
Here is praying for great fishing, warm temps and sunny skies for you this weekend.

We've been enjoying a fire every night, too,but not with the furnace turned off- so bill is probably the same as usual.
Sweet dreams of warmer days and fishing.
When I saw your title I thought, 'Whoops Greg thinks he's Father Christmas!' swiftly followed by,'Doesn't he know its Feb not Dec?'
All is now clear, and I am glad you are intact!
PS Calm parenting doesn't always work!
Sometimes a little tough love goes a long way. I remember some issues with my kids when it was hard to know what to do.
I am tired of all the cold weather too! I am ready for Spring, but still thankful that my kids got all this snow to play in. Rare for Virginia.
Good to read your post today!
Well, I can say we've only turned it on a couple of times and only for a few minutes to take the chill out. But that's just the BIG heater. Our little ones are puffing along like the Little Engine That Could.
Glad you didn't kill yourself on your roof. :-)
Looking forward to summer too...
Glad your roof is 90% finished and you didn't fall off!
My Dad had a title similar to yours, he was Head Maintenance Foreman at a large Canery. My Dad could fix anything.... and I bet you can too.
Everyone has been letting me know that you are continuing the TT postings! Way to go! Hey, would you have an interest in taking it over? (I could have Edie make you a more masculine button? You would need to be committed to posting with Mr. Linky each week. Just let me know. I don't feel that I can continue it on a permanent basis. Or we could share and post one month at a time, or bi-weekly. Let me know! It's great to be back!
Take care!
