Father knows best

Two nights ago, my son and I were driving home and ran up behind a car that was going slow. It was going 45 in a 55 mph zone. There was a double solid yellow line so I couldn’t pass so I backed off a little. The car slowed down a little more and my son asked what was up with that guy. Due to my many years of driving experience, I told him that he was getting ready to turn. This is something that I learned over the years about the driving habits of people on our island. Anyway, my son said since he is turning, why don’t you just shoot around him. I explained that he might be turning left and he would love to hit me as I passed on a double yellow line so he could sue me and get a new car. Finally he put on his right turn signal and I still didn’t pass and my son (who just got his learners permit and also knows everything) began to get exasperated and said pass him Dad. I just smiled and said lets not be hasty. The car slowed to almost a dead stop and then turned LEFT and I said see why I didn’t pass. I hope he remembers that lesson. He won't. Have a great day.

oh, to be at the age that you know everything. The lesson though was a great one...One hopefully that he will remember so that you won't get that call saying "Dad, I was in an accident!"

I remember it well, and the white hairs to show. It was the most nerve recking time, learning my son to drive. We did it though, third time lucky..

I bet he will remember. I still don't believe turn signals, because my mom taught me that very lesson.
