Thankful Thursday #66

Image
Welcome to Thankful Thursday. This is the first time I am officially leading this (I guess I am officially leading, although I have no official documentation to back it up) so thank you all for coming. Those of you that have been following me for sometime know that my sense of humor comes through in almost everything that I write, even in my Thankful Thursday posts. Those that know me also know that I am almost always upbeat and positive so I am hoping to pass some of those positive thoughts and feelings along to my readers. I will hope that what I write encourages you to be positive and thankful as well and I invite everyone to join in by signing up below. I need to caution you though that I am by no way a blogger expert so some of the links or buttons may not work at first but I will keep trying until I get them right. I have been getting lots of help from Sonya who used to host Thankful Thursday and another blogger who is one of my biggest fans. I hope you will become a fan as wel

Just a thought

I am thinking about leading the Thankful Thursday group. I have a lot to do to get to that point where I get Mr. Linky up and running and I can figure out the ins and outs of this all but I am heading in that direction. Let me know what you think? All is well here on the Island. Work has been really hectic and so have a lot of other things but I am managing. Last night we were out in the front yard and a bald eagle flew right over our heads. He circled for a while as if he was looking for something then flew off. Today we found a little bluebird in our front yard that had been injured. We have him in a shoe box and are hoping he makes it until the morning. Keep thinking positive and let me know what you think about the Thankful Thursday. No matter what I will be posting my list on Thursday. I am trying out Mr. Linky. No need to sign up for this one unless you want to give it a try. If you want to though you can do it. I am working on the other parts or the post. If you are still readin

Thankful Thursday...Up on the roof.

For anyone that doesn't know about what I do for a living, my official title is maintenance planner. That means I plan and schedule maintenance. So it was no surprise that I planned and scheduled my roofing job. I had it scheduled down to a T. Then Mother Nature stepped in with other plans. On Friday, when I was supposed to start work, it snowed. It was the most snow we have had in 20 years. So much for plans. Then on Saturday it rained. Way to go Mother Nature. It was also just above freezing. I guess it is global warming. So here is my list for the week. I am about 90% done with my roofing project and I am thankful that I am still standing. No one over the age of 50 should be allowed to work on a roof. Even though my back yard is a swamp we will be needing the water this summer so I am thankful for the water. The wood is still holding out and I am thankful for that. Our heater hasn't turned on this year and that is keeping our electric bill lower than most. I am thankful that

Well we finally got snow. It has been about 10 years since it snowed here so it is a big deal for us. We only got about three inches on the ground but there is more in some areas where it drifted. I heard that a few miles inland they got around 6 inches. Thats a blizzard for this area. The last time we had this much snow was right after hurricane Hugo and that was around 20 years ago. I know a lot of you just want the snow to go away but it is a nice treat for us. The bad news is that I was supposed to be already on the roof and starting that project but I now have to wait for the snow to melt. I would have never guessed that I would be delayed by snow. Enjoy the photos. Have a great day, Greg

Thankful Thursday

Again I have a lot to be thankful for but I will only list 5 things. First off I am thankful to just be alive. I am guessing that a few of you were wondering if I still was though since I haven't been posting. Well I am and life is very busy for me but it is still live none the less. I have a biggie this week. my son got accepted to the college of his choice. Whooo Hooo. We are all so proud of him. I am thankful for my friends at work. I don't have a lot there but the few I have keep me smiling. Our new catch word is Milkaholic. You have to see the etrade girlfriend commercial to know what I am talking about. I am thankful for my blog friends who are sticking with me through my lack of blogging times. Stick with me, I will be back with lots of photos very soon. I am again thankful for all this wood that my wife and youngest son chopped. We are having another cold snap and this fire feels really good. So what are you thankful for today. I am sure you have a big list too. Have a

It's hard to believe that it is Thursday again. Actually if the truth were known it is only Wednesday night but I am getting this post ready and I am going to post it early. I have so much to be thankful for and I want to get it all down on paper while it is fresh in my mind. My day started out and ended a little scary. This morning, right after I pulled out of my driveway, a huge buck froze in my headlights. I thought oh no, not again. But to my amazement he just walked slowly across the road and went into a neighbors yard. If any hunters are reading this, it was a 10 point buck and it had a great rack. Eat your heart out hunters. I am thankful that I didn't literally have another run in with a deer. I have been seeing them every morning for several weeks now and so far so good. It's going to be a long year. I am thankful for another great body pump class this week. I didn't hurt myself this time and I am planning on doing a spin class tomorrow. Look at me getting in s

The beatings will continue.......

The beatings will continue until the attitude improves around this place!!! Apparently it isn't acceptable for some people to enjoy going to work anymore. Apparently you are supposed to come to work, hate it, do your mundane job and then return home in a foul mood. The only people who are allowed to enjoy themselves at work are upper management. You have to be in the "do as I say not as I do" group to have a good time anymore. Yesterday we got the memo from corporate; No more blogger, facebook twitter or any other social networking at work. That includes your own time like during breaks, lunch, before and after working hours or any other time that is your own. Apparently someone was caught smiling at work and management just can't have it get out that someone may be happy at work. On a totally unrelated note, all upper management were given blackberries recently so they can keep track of business issues. Of course none of them will be used for personal use like contac
