Thankful Thursday, here comes the rain again.

Image
But this time it's real rain and not troubles I am writing about. Yes we had lots of rain today and we have a lot more on the way. But I am always thankful for the rain. That is unless it rains for 40 days and 40 nights. And that is only because my boat needs work. I am also thankful that I have a warm dry place to lay my head. When I think about all the homeless people in the world I am very thankful to have my little house. I am also thankful that we have food on the table and have never had to go hungry. I am thankful that our plants are growing well now that we have had some rain. And finally I am thankful that the part I wanted to get to fix the boat wasn't in stock. While I was waiting for it to come in, I did some more troubleshooting and I found out that it wasn't the part that I needed. Had the part been in stock, I would have gotten it and they don't take returns. That little setback turned out to be a blessing. Have a great day, Greg

Thankful Thursday, I need a break

Is it crazy out there or what? If I told you all the trouble I have been through this year you would swear my name was Job. But it is Greg and I refuse to let life get me down. Even though I had had a hard year I am still thankful and wish to continue this meme. But this week I am swamped with work, home life and just everything. So I am not giving up because I am still thankful for everything in life. But like I said I swamped so let me make this a brief post and I will get back to my regular post next week. I am thankful for family, friends, a good job (even though it makes me wonder sometimes), Blog friends, my God given talents, great school grades, plants, rain, free things, etc etc. Let me just say I am thankful and you should be too. If you are reading this you are alive too and that alone is something to be thankful for. Have a great day, Greg

Thankful Thursday, Senior Moment

Image
This week I went to the Senior Center. No not to move in but to help out. Our company participates in the United Way Day of Caring and each year. If work allows, I try to volunteer. Last year we had to work but this year I was able to do it. This year we helped out at a local Senior Center and also at the homes of some of the seniors. Even though I said on my volunteer form that I was good with plants and gardening, I ended up at the center doing odd jobs. But it turned out to be great anyway. I started my day by erecting handicap parking signs for the parking spaces. While we were doing this, one lady drove up and ran over my work bucket (which was not in the parking space). This leads me to believe that these signs were really needed. When she went inside I noticed that she had several nice scrapes on her car which told me that she may also need glasses. I guess I could say that I am thankful that it was the bucket and not me that got run over. My next project was to wash handicap

Thankful Thursday, We have options

Image
I think the interesting thing about life is that we all have options. When I hear the people at work complaining about making 25 dollars an hour and having to do certain things I come back with; you could always quit if it upsets you that much. Funny thing though, no one quits. Anywhoo, this week I made some choices on some options that I had and I think we are heading in the right directions. It is too early to blog about it but I think I see the light at the end of the tunnel. This week has been a good one for me. For starters I am thankful that I only have a 4 day work week. I had 4 nice days off and got some much done it isn't funny. It is nice to get projects behind you. I am thankful that we had fresh fish to eat last weekend. There is nothing quite like fresh fish. I also had a great day at the market last weekend and I am thankful for that. God provides for me and my family and I am thankful for that. Of course I have to work hard for my money but I am willing to do that. I

Fish tale

Image
I took the day off and my wife, my oldest son and I went fishing. I hate to brag but I think we know who the fisherman is in the family. The weather was just about perfect and we found a great spot. My son caught a ton of speckled trout but they were all about an inch shy of the limit so they all went back. My wife and I each caught one keeper though so we are having fish for dinner. Now since most of you think fishermen are liars I won't tell any tall tales. I have photos and photos never lie. And here they are: My fish: Diane's little fish: And please disregard this photo. I think the angle makes it misleading. :) OK OK maybe her fish was a little bigger but mine had spunk. Have a great day, Greg

Thankful Thursday, Roller coaster ride.

Well after last weeks great advances we took a few hits this week. It wasn't all bad though and I did make some progress in some areas. I am thankful for the wonderful weather we had at Saturday's Grape Stomp at the Vineyard. It was so nice and the crowd was awesome. We had a great day. I am thankful that I got my parts in for my boats. With any luck I will have them both running well by the weekend. I am thankful that I held my temper this week when I really wanted to let a few people have it. I think I showed that I was the bigger person. I am thankful for my sister who is taking care of our Mother. I know I couldn't do it. I am sure she is tested daily. I am thankful that Earl didn't come our way. That is the last thing we need. It has made it cooler though and that is a nice change. Have a great day, Greg
