Thankful Thursday, Out with the old, in with the new

Image
Well this is my last Thankful Thursday post for 2010. And I do think it is time for some changes. Since I am trying to cut back everywhere, I am no longer going to use Mr. Linky. I know it is only a few cents here and there but pennies add up to dollars and I need all of those I can get. So I will still be posting and you can still join in just by leaving a comment. So here is my list for the week. I am thankful that I made it through 2010. (at least I think I will make it, I have two days left. It was a very rough year for me financially, mentally and physically but I made it. I am thankful that we had a great Christmas and instead of asking people what they got this year I am asking what they gave this year. Its a new approach and I think a good one. Right now I am thankful for this great cup of coffee. Although I wasn't able to cut out my caffeine totally this year I am doing to about a quarter of what I used to take in. And I do love my coffee. I am thankful for some warmer wea

Thankful Thursday, Late again

Image
Well I am just now getting to my Thankful Thursday post. I know I am late. I got up this morning a little late and I thought about rushing and getting a post out but then I thought to myself; is anyone even reading these posts? I know I have a few faithful followers but I only knew of two or three. So I went to work and at work all of a sudden I got an email from my sister asking me if everything was ok. She then asked where my TT post was. Hmmm I never knew she wingas reading them. So I guess more people are reading them than comment so I apologize for being slack this morning. And here is my Thankful Thursday list: First off I am very thankful for having 4 full days from work. That's a big whoooo hoooo. (not whoot whoot since I am banned from saying that) Now that isn't saying anything bad against work I just need some time to unwind and recharge my batteries. I am thankful that Christmas is just two days away. I can't wait. I have the ham ready to bake. I am thankful Tha

Thankful Thursday, Sorry I'm late.

But as the saying goes....Better late than never. I am going to use the excuse that the weather was bad but the truth is I just didn't sleep well so my mind wasn't working when I got up. The first thing I am thankful for is that the cold snap is over. I can't believe that it got that cold this early in the year. It's only getting down in the 40's tonight and I can handle that. I am thankful that Christmas is just around the corner. We are all ready and I can't wait. I am thankful for my computer virus protection. I had an attack but it was caught before it got in. I am thankful that our chickens are still laying eggs despite this cold weather. We now have more eggs than we can use but we are able to sell the extras. I am thankful that everyone in my family is healthy this time of year. I hope it continues. So what are you thankful for this week? Please join me in saying thanks. Greg

Thankful Thursday, It's cold outside.

Yes it is Thursday already and my brain is almost frozen but I am still going to write a Thankful Thursday post. I could whine and complain and say; It's too cold but I am not going to do that. I like Thankful Thursday too much to complain today. I got up last night at 1:00 and went outside to put wood in the greenhouse stove. Yes it was cold, yes I was tired but it needed to be done and so I did it. This morning, the plants are safe and warm thanks to me. God however gave me the caring attitude to keep me going. So this Thursday instead of a list I just want to say Thank you God for giving me the opportunities to make a difference. I would prefer it if the weather was warmer but God gave me the opportunity to get wood this past summer and he has given me my health to give me the strength to get up at 1 am to keep the fire going. So many people these days are looking for the easy way out instead of looking for a way to get themselves out. I am so thankful that I know the difference

Happy Holidays...Thankful Thursday

This weeks list is an easy one. I have so much to be thankful for that I could write a book. But since it is 43o AM I will stick with just 5. I am thankful for free firewood. We (mostly my wife) spent the summer gathering wood for the winter and now we are nice and toasty even though it is 36 outside. The greenhouse is warm too. I am thankful that I live in the country. While heading out to put wood in the greenhouse stove about 30 minutes ago, I opened the front door to find two deer standing 30 feet from me. They ran off as I went outside but they stayed in the yard off at a distance and kept an eye on me. I am thankful for a great opportunity to raise money for needy children. The spaghetti dinner went well and we ended up with enough money to buy a lot of toys to go along with the Christmas food baskets. Now I get to go shopping. I love seeing the look on the checkout girl's face when I wheel in two carts full of toys. I am thankful for earlybird specials on black Friday. I thi
