Worrying is bad for you. So don't do it.

There is a lot of worrying going on today. I heard about it on the radio, TV, at the gym and now here at work. It’s only 7:30 and I have already heard about voting problems, possible riots, fights and angry voters. The streets are full of cars with people trying to beat the rush to vote. Too late people, there are already long lines at the voting stations. This morning I even heard one person say they were still undecided and they were thinking about not voting because they couldn't make up their mind. I told them I had decided so vote my way.

For some reason I am not worried this morning. I woke up in another one of my good moods. I had a good workout at the gym. Took a nice long hot shower and got to work a little early. My coffee was outstanding and I brought along a blueberry muffin to go with it. I was the first one here and I began singing this song:

Don’t worry about a thing,
cause every little thing gonna be all right.
Singin: don’t worry about a thing,
cause every little thing gonna be all right!

Rise up this mornin,
Smiled with the risin sun,
Three little birds
Pitch by my doorstep
Singin sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,
Sayin, (this is my message to you-ou-ou:)

Don’t worry about a thing,
cause every little thing gonna be all right.
Singin: don’t worry about a thing,
cause every little thing gonna be all right!

It got stuck in my head and after the morning meeting, I continued to sing it. Don't you hate when songs get stuck in your head? Now the guy next to me in the office is singing it.

This morning, I was up to Matthew 6 in my daily reading. Check out verses 25 through 27. I think there is a message in here for me. Is this a coincidence or what?

Matthew 6;
25 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?" 26 "Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?" 27 "Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?"

And that isn't just anyone talking either.

Have a wonderful day and please Vote. I will be voting after work. So don't worry......pray.

I hope it is ok to bring along some snacks.

******UPDATE*****

I voted. It only took me 50 minutes and it was so easy because I did my homework and knew what/who I was voting for before I got in line. Some others weren't quite so prepared. A man was there who for some reason had to do a write in ballot. One of the poll workers was filling out the paperwork for him because he couldn't read or write. This is the conversation I overheard.

Ok sir the paperwork is ready.
I just want to vote for Bamma.
You mean Obama?
Yea that's the one, and nothing else.
You don't want to cast any other votes?
No I just want to vote for Obama and homeboy.
Well I know who Obama is but who is homeboy?
You know that other person.
What do you mean?
That person that is with him.
Do you mean the Vice President?
Yea I guess so. I just want to vote for Bamma.
Well they are on the same ticket.
Ok that's good. I guess.

So she filled out his ticket for Obama. I dare say he couldn't pick Obama out of a lineup. So sad it has come to this.

Oh well, have a great night.
Greg

I was with you until you wrote "I hope it is ok to bring along some snacks." Then I laughed out loud! More gym work for you!

Now I will be singing all day too, but the song will be "Don't worry, be happy." (Bob Marley)

and a p.s. when a song is stuck in a person's head, it is called an ear worm. So go tell the guy in the cube next to you that you have an ear worm...see if he doesn't ask the boss to be moved! LOL!! Cause as you've found out, it is contagious!
I wouldn't say I've been worrying, concerned yes. Reading the verse you posted made me feel more confident that no matter what, everything will be just fine.
Thank you for stopping by my blog. Your post is so true! God is in control. No matter who becomes President - God is still the ruler. Great post!

AMEN! (I bounced over here from Korin's blog.)

It's amazing that you posted one of my most treasured passages on this Election Day. I feel better already.

Dorothy is right; "God is in control..." but I'm still praying He will raise up John McKain to be our president.

What a good message Greg, and so fitting for me as I was worrying about a lot of things today. I'm so glad I read your post. I'm voting on the way home today too. Have a good day!
"Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life" is a verse I've lived by since I was married to a cop, years and years ago.

I love this post. I believe it's God's supernatural and inexpicable peace we are experiencing. Singing that wonderful song with you.

Shalom, Angie
What a great verse, thanks for the reminder!!

I hope your voting experence will be like mine this morning. I arrived, was 4th in line and was actually able to come home before I went to work!! I guess the screamer was an overkill and I was all worked up for nothing.....

I am still praying and holding out for a McCain victory, but if not, I have to put it all in God's hands!
I heard an evangelist preach this once:
"Why worry? If you worry, you die-
and if you don't worry, you still die anyhow,
so why worry?!"
I loved the glimpse into your life- coffee, muffin, overheard conversation and all.

I went a voted this morning at our Volunteer Fire Department. Was in and out in ten minutes. Then I came home and went beebopping through the woods.

Great verse!

Whoever wins, even if not my choice, I will get behind him, because he will be the president of our great country. And I will pray for him and wish him well.

Best wishes!

I voted this morning and it was busy. Not much of a wait though. They had the usual voting machine and also a new one that was computerized. No one much wanted to use it but I did, so I got in and out faster that way.

Worrying doesn't help things but it's hard not to sometimes. As others have said God is still in control no matter who wins.

Great post.....

"Worry is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do, but doesn't get you anywhere"

I agree, God is the blessed controller of all things, Ruler of Rulers and King of Kings!

LOL:Wanda
Good post, Greg. I was half expecting little bluebirds and butterflies to come tweetin and flittin by and for tendrilly flowers to miraculously bloom and grow as you told about your wonderful morning (what insurance commercial does that?). I must admit that I did purposefully skip over the song so that it wouldn't get stuck in my head tonight, right before bed LOL.

I am not worried... a little terrified, but not necessarily worried. I honestly don't know how the polling places were around here because we voted absentee (rolling eyes at hickness of county) I spent all day at home praying for Gods will to be done... I must believe that it was :-p

P.S. What is tiger tigger (from a few posts ago)?
I have used the exact same word as some of your other commenters: concerned. That is especially true since I am now leaving this comment on the 5th of November.

Hold on to your hats, everybody.

What a sad reality your "voting" story is. The stupidity astounds me. So, quit your jobs...hurry so you can get your fair share, or you will be taxed to death. I'm hoping Louisiana secedes from the Union! A friend here in Lafayette heard this yesterday from a co-worker....

"My bride of almost 37 years works for a big retailer. Some of her co-workers have been overheard remarking that the big "O" would make sure they did not have to pay on their mortgage again and they would be getting a new car from "him". Sound familiar? She dreaded going to work this morning."

Thanks for your post, and one of MY favorite passages too. This is a true test of faith for all of us! -

Okay I know i'm on a freight elevator to Hell for laughing at this but I am.
What a pitiful example of our fine South Carolina voters!

You didn't by any chance vote in North Charleston did you? *snicker*

Greg, thanks for visiting my blog and reminding me of that verse. I think my feeling today is sadness. I am sad for my country. I am not sure about the thought processes anymore of our citizens. We had a man who has proven time and time again, how much he loves this country and how much he would do for her. How could an American like that lose this race? What's done is done and I will lean on God as always.
I attended The College of Charleston and Charleston is one of my favorite cities. I am originally from Sumter. I miss SC. Stop by my blog and visit anytime.
Greg, Nice post and I am glad that you got to vote without waiting to terribly long.

Oh my, reading back a few posts and catching up :) Don't worry for sure, good words you read from Matthew and so true, despite the election results! God is in control and His will be done on earth as it is in Heaven...

I way behind on reading posts. I knew Obama would win. I just know we must pray for our leaders, as you said it is in God's hands.
