I’m OK, really I am.

If you are following my “car disaster saga”, then you know that I had three cars that we own die on us over the weekend. We ended up with one blown head gasket, one bad wheel bearing and one bald tire with a nail in it that can’t be repaired. I replaced the wheel bearing, it will take me several weeks to fix the head gasket and we are scheduled to get new tires this Thursday. At least my car is still running good, Right? Not so fast people.

Last night on my way home from work I decided to stop at Publix for some fresh fruit. I know I don’t always eat healthy but I do try to eat some fresh fruit every day. So I ran in and found some nice bananas and nectarines and was out in a flash. I put the key in the ignition and turned it and click click click. That was it. It didn’t start. I laughed out loud and said. This is ridiculous, God give me a break. After checking the battery terminal connections I determined that the battery was dead. While I was doing this, several people came within a few feet of me but no one offered to help.

I was about to give up when a nice gentleman asked if I needed some help. I quickly accepted the offer. We checked a few things and then jump started the engine and off I headed for home. About 5 miles down the road, I was beginning to get dark so I turned on the headlights and the car shut off. Fortunately I was moving about 50 MPH so I turned the lights back off and the car restarted. Whew that was a close one. I managed to make it home before it got too dark to see.

As expected, my battery had gone bad. Now what are the chances of all 4 cars having problems within three days? Calgon take me away!!! But yes, I am ok and glad because it could have been worse. Had I not stopped for fruit, my car wouldn’t have started this morning and I would have missed my gym workout and had to take time off from work (vacation time) to get the car running. As it was, the car ran well this morning with the new battery. And speaking of the gym, I had the entire gym all to myself for about 20 minutes this morning. I was able to get a great workout and work out my frustration before I had to interact with other people. See it pays to get up at 3:30 to workout.

Have a great day,
Greg

PS I am so sorry that I haven't been visiting your blogs as much as I should but you can imagine I am just trying to catch up at the moment. Thanks for understanding.

Keep looking for that silver lining Greg and while you're at it toss a little silver lining over my way too! :)
Totally understandable why you're not blog visiting and you're not missing anything riveting on my blog anyway ;)

Blown head gaskets, wheel bearings and naily tires...now a battery! you have SO been challenged and look how wonderfully you've been protected.

People have become so SCARED to help people..."no one offered to help". Glad the gentleman came to your aid.

...used to love these commercials...good memory..."Calgon take me away!!!"

You're being so diligent with your gym workout...a great example to others.

I haven't been visiting many blogs either, so you don't need to apologize.

maybe this week will be MUCH LESS taxing on your 'car health'. :)

You just keep doing what you need to do my friend! I can't believe that your car broke down too. That is tough! But thankfully you weren't left on the side of the road in the dark. Although I do think you're crazy for going to the gym at 3:30.

Greg,

I guess that special someone in the parking lot who did stop and offer help offered you an act of random kindness huh?

What a nice way to remember that there is hope in some people that they can still offer help!

SO glad that you made it home safe and sound and soon all the cars will be fixed and running great! Better now than when the weather gets much worse.

Love and Hugs ~ Kat

Car problems? Tell me about it! Oh ya...you did. LOL. My husband is very handy when it comes to cars. I can't tell you how many times I've appreciated that ability!! Too bad we don't live a little closer. ;)

You really must have done something to tick off the motorpool gremlins! They have been working overtime in your garage!

Oh dear, I can't imagine the trouble we'd have over here if all four cars fritzed out at the same time. Goodness. Thanks for buzzin' over to my blog today to see the bee. Don't know how you found the time, especially if you're the kind of guy who fixes his own cars. Wow. You've got a garage full. Sorry. You probably didn't need me to remind you of that.

I'll be thinking of ya and hoping they all get the kinks worked out, so somebody around there can get to work/school/the gym...

That's just incredible! I'm impressed that you haven't blown a gasket yet cause mine would have blown back on Saturday. I will pray harder.

Greg, I understand completely about not visiting blogs. If you try to read and comment on every blog you follow every day it can take hours. I think I'm going to have to make out a rotating schedule. It is so good to hear that you do have transportation and are making some progress on getting the cars fixed. Your attitude about all of this is wonderful.

God Bless,
Mimmy

Your experiences with cars sounds like mine with computers. It's a love/hate relationship.
Greg, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say you might consider a triple A membership.

Not broken car parts? Are you kidding? I.T. loves broken car parts. You'd have won his heart if you'd sent those. I wait with baited breath (that line always makes me think of fish breath)for my uniquely Charleston thing in a box.

Now, fix those cars...

Wow Greg, that is a lot of car problems at once. That has happened to us before too when the boys lived at home. But thank God when you look back, it happened at the best possible time or place, to avoid a lot of problems.
