Thankful Thursday #70
There are a lot of changes taking place in our world. Some are good but some are bad. And because of the bad changes, a lot of people are worrying. And because they are worrying, they are getting sick. Then they worry about being sick and not being able to take care of the things in their life that they are responsible for and then others around them begin to worry and they get sick.
Have you noticed now many people are getting sick these days? It is alarming. Some people say it is because of the food we eat, the water we drink and the air we breathe. But a lot of it is simply due to stress from worrying.
So today I want to center “my” Thankful Thursday about worrying, or more importantly not worrying because only God knows what tomorrow will bring.
Matthew 6:
25 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?
I am thankful for my life and the fact that I am able to get up every morning and head out to work. I am not confined to a bed or a wheelchair but even if I was I would be thankful just to be alive.
26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life[b]?
I am thankful for the birds and all the other animals that make up this great world.
28 "And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.
I am thankful for my gardening abilities and the fact that I can (with God’s help) grow lovely flowers.
30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
I am thankful that no matter what has happened over the last few years, I was still able to put food on the table. Even when I was totally broke (or at least it felt like it), we had food to eat. And sometimes I didn’t know where the food came from but it did come and I am thankful for that.
34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
I am thankful for today and even though I don’t know what tomorrow will bring, I will not worry about it. I am confident that even in all this chaos God has a plan and it is a great plan. I want to give a special shout out to Kat over at Heart to Heart. She is having an operation today and I ask that you keep her in your prayers.
Have a great day,
Greg
