Thankful Thursday....I'mmmmm Baaaaack

Hey everyone. Why do I hear crickets? I know I know I have been gone too long but now I am back so I hope to regain some of my faithful followers.

A lot has happened in the past weeks and months and a lot of it was bad. But instead of focusing on the bad things I will look at the bright side. In the past week, my boat broke down again and I had a flat tire on my car. The good news is we were able to make it back to the boat landing without having to paddle and the tire went flat while the car was parked at home and not while driving down the highway. So I am thankful for both of those things.

I am also very thankful for all the rain that we got over the past few days. I think we got over 6 inches and lots more in some other areas. It is so nice not to have dust rise up as I walk across the lawn. Of course this means someone will have to mow the grass this week but it is worth it.

What I am saying is even though I have had tons of troubles over the past few months, things could always have been worse and I am thankful to God for that.

You may have been gone, but not forgotten!

So welcome back. I'm a lot older than you Greg...was 70 in May, and I can tell you there were times in my life, it seemed like only bad came my way.. but like you, I always tried to see the good, and keep a sense of humor!

Isn't it funny, no matter how bad it gets, someone else had it worse.

I'm glad to see you here, and certainly those are things to be thankful for. This year, worldwide, rain and the lack of it, or the surfeit of it, does seem to be a recurring theme. Both extremes are disasterous.

My plans have changed.

Well I had plans on working all weekend but those plans were changed for me on Friday afternoon. About 5 minutes before I left work on Friday, my boss called me to tell me that they wouldn’t be needing my services all weekend. It seems that my schedule was so good that it could stand on its’ own. So there went 20 hours of overtime that I had planned on. And all those plans that my family made around my overtime were also changed. When I got home on Friday, I found out that the riding mower had quit working. How bad could it be I thought. 10, 20, 30 dollars to fix? Well we are talking $300.00 just for the parts. But at least I have the ability to do it myself. I am sure it would be around $500.00 to take it in somewhere. And the sad part is I could buy a new one for about $900.00. But wait, I just found someone selling the part I need on Craigslist for $40.00. Keep your fingers crossed for me please. Saturday, I went to the market since I wasn’t working at my regular job (as planned).
